Our Story
Happy Burrow Homestead - A Modern Homestead
We are new homesteaders! We finally made the decision to ditch the grocery store (as best we can) and start growing our own food. We took a leap of faith and bought our dream property in the heart of the Midwest. We have long desired to get some land both for us to enjoy and for meaningful work, but also to give our kids more room to roam and run and explore.
We hope to inspire you to start right where you are or to make the jump into something new! We will be sharing our journey along the way, both the successes and the lessons we learn. We would love to hear from you too!
Jen
Jen homeschools our 4 children. She loves to create and enjoys hobbies that allow her to do that such as photography, painting, and making homemade meals for her family
Chris
Chris loves anything that gets him outdoors especially hiking and camping. He enjoys woodworking. He loves just about any throwback to the 80s or 90s. He is also a military veteran.
Our Family
We have been married over a decade and have 4 beautiful children and two in heaven. We have lived all over the United States in our years together. We have wanted to own land for years but could never seem to find the right place or timing.
At the start of 2020, we were living in Washington state at our final duty station before Chris’s retirement. When the pandemic hit, we started our search for the perfect property again. We found our little piece of paradise in the Midwest and made the jump! We relocated our family before the end of the year and this is where our next chapter begins. We are starting our very first homestead!
Neither one of us grew up on a farm so this is a brand new adventure for us! We hope you will join us on our journey as we try new things and share our lessons learned with you!
